First-year students and transfer students who are new the University for the Spring 2027 semester who would like to live on campus should review the information on our Housing for New and Transfer student Housing for Spring 2027 website.

Returning Student Housing Application & Placement Process

  • All students new to housing for the spring semester must submit their non-refundable $250 Housing Deposit and their online housing application to be considered for a housing placement.

Please Note: Financial Aid, Loans, Scholarships and payment plans cannot be used to pay the housing deposit. Payment can be made in cash, check, money order, or online using various methods such as bank account transfer, debit, and credit cards (including Visa) through the student's eWeb account. The housing deposit is not subject to credit card transaction fees. The Housing office will not accept housing deposit payments. If paying online, please be sure to pay it as a deposit and not as a regular payment to the account, otherwise it will not show up as a housing deposit.

For step-by-step instructions on how to submit your non-refundable $250 Housing Deposit, please CLICK HERE.

There is no deadline to submit your deposit, however placements occur in the order in which deposits are received. To increase the likelihood of receiving a housing assignment and increase the chances of being placed in an area most preferred, it is suggested that deposits are submitted as soon as possible.

  • The Housing Application is completed online in your MyHousing Portal. We use the data collected from this application to record your hall preferences and attempt to match you with compatible roommates. It should only take a few minutes to fill out and we encourage you to apply today!

We encourage parents, families, and others supporting students to have students complete this step themselves. This is a great opportunity for your student to learn the MyHousing Portal, which is used throughout their time living on campus.

  • If you have a preferred roommate, you may list them directly on your housing application.

A few notes to keep in mind when requesting roommates:

    • First-Year students and upper-level students cannot be paired together in the same housing assignment.
    • If your preferred roommate is a student who is already attending Eastern and lives on campus, you may request them.
      • Placement with a preferred roommate who already lives on campus depends on if there is a vacancy in their assignment at the time of your placement.
      • If all beds in a preferred roommate's assignment are filled when you are being placed in housing, we cannot move another student to accommodate your request.
  • What to expect for housing placements:

    • Housing placements are completed by a member of the Housing team.
    • Housing placements will begin in late December and continue into the spring semester, depending on when a student complete the steps to request housing.
    • Students are placed in housing in the order in which their housing deposits are received, and based on residence hall availability.
      • If all beds in a preferred residence hall are filled and beds are open elsewhere, placement will likely be in another residence hall.
    • Once a housing assignment is made, the student will receive a confirmation email sent to their Eastern inbox.

Please Note: Eastern Connecticut State University does not guarantee housing. To increase the likelihood of receiving a housing assignment, we advise that students complete the application and submit their deposit as soon as possible. If necessary, waitlists for housing assignments will be kept and students will be assigned from that waitlist in the order of when their housing deposits were submitted.

Housing placements do not guarantee matches with preferred roommates, or placement in preferred hall(s)

Housing Accommodations for ADA Needs

  • Eastern Connecticut State University is committed to providing equal access to its programs, services, and activities, including on-campus housing. The Office of Housing and Residential Life works closely with the Office of AccessAbility Services (OAS) to ensure students with documented disabilities are able to enjoy accessible on-campus housing.

Students should make contact with the Office of AccessAbility Services (OAS) in order to schedule an intake appointment and to find out what medical documentation is required. If OAS determines a housing accommodation is necessary, they inform the housing office once it has been approved. Accommodations are not guaranteed (depending on time of notification and what is available) but we work to accommodate the student as much as possible given the available spots at the time an accommodation is approved.

If you were previously approved for a housing accommodation, you are required to renew your accommodation for your return to campus living.

Students pay the rate associated for the hall/room type they are assigned to regardless of reason assigned.

It is recommended that students with accommodation needs submit their accommodation request to the Office of AccessAbility Services as soon as possible. This is to improve the likelihood that a Housing accommodation can be honored during the placement process.

Accommodations are honored in order of their approval and if there are available spaces on campus. If an accommodation cannot be honored due to room types with needed amenities being filled, a waitlist will be kept.

For more information visit the AccessAbility Services website.

Important Information & Next Steps

  • For students living in on-campus housing: Connecticut State Law (Public Act No. 01-93) now requires vaccination against meningitis (Types A,C,X,W-135) for all students residing in on-campus housing. Important: State law now requires that students get a second meningitis shot if they received their previous meningitis vaccine(s) more than five years from the date they first start college.

Students who are non-compliant with this requirement will receive weekly emails starting on January 2, 2027. Students still not compliant as of move-in day will not be permitted to move into their housing assignment.

Please visit the Health Services: Health Entrance Requirements website for more information and to submit your vaccination record.

If you have previously lived on campus, it is best to verify that your meningitis record is up-to-date and in compliance with Health Services.
