Early Arrival Housing: Fall 2026

Students interested in Early Arrival Housing should review the information below carefully.

Eligibility for Early Arrival Housing

  • The be considered for Early Arrival Housing a student must:

    • Be registered for Fall 2026 classes.
    • Have a 2026-2027 on campus housing assignment.

    New & Transfer Students: You must have your Meningitis Vaccination Requirement fulfilled with Health Services prior to your application being approved. See below for additional information.

  • Prior to applying for Early Arrival Housing, new students must complete their Meningitis Vaccination Requirement and submit their record to Health Services.


    Students who are not compliant with this requirement will not be approved for Early Arrival Housing, and will not be permitted to move in until they are compliant.

    Students who are not compliant are not permitted to be guests of students who are. 

     

    Connecticut State Law (Public Act No. 01-93) now requires vaccination against meningitis (Types A,C,X,W-135) for all students residing in on-campus housing. Important: State law now requires that students get a second meningitis shot if they received their previous meningitis vaccine(s) more than five years from the date they first start college.

    Students who are non-compliant with this requirement will receive weekly emails starting on July 1, 2026. Students still not compliant as of move-in day will not be permitted to move into their housing assignment.

How to Request Early Arrival Housing

  • Students may request early arrival housing by submitting an Early Arrival Housing Application in the MyHousing Portal. 

    The application will open on July 1st.
    • Students requesting to move in August 11th to 16th must apply no later than August 1st. 
    • Students arriving after August 17th must apply at least 3 business days prior to a students requested arrival.
    • Same-day requests are not granted to be accommodated.

     

Moving In to Early Arrival Housing

  • Students can move in on the approved check in day in their confirmation email between 7:00pm and 10:00pm, when our residence hall offices are open. 

    The Housing Team cannot accommodate a move in time outside of this window as all are in training or are preparing the campus for move-in weekend. We thank you for your planning in this. 

  • Students approved for Early Arrival Housing will go directly to their residence hall. Their ID or fob will be programmed to open the main door at 7:00pm on the date of their approved arrival.

    After entering the hall for the first time, students will check in with the staff at the hall's office. There, staff will distribute bedroom keys and complete other required move-in documentation. 

    Students will then be able to move into their housing assignment. 

  • New Students who picked up their ID at SOAR: Your ID will act as your key into the residence hall. It will be programmed to turn on at your approve move-in time. You will pick up your bedroom key at the front desk of your residence hall when you check in. 
    • Athletes: You will pick up your bedroom keys from your coach as you will be moving in when the residence hall offices are closed.

    New Students who did not pick up their ID at SOAR or have lost their ID: You will need to visit the Card Services office during their business hours to pick up a new ID before you check in to your residence hall.
    • Card Services is open: Monday - Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm. They are not open on the weekends or during overnight hours. Please plan accordingly. 

    Returning students who still have their main fob or student ID: Your ID will act as your key into the residence hall. It will be programmed to turn on at your approve move-in time. You will pick up your bedroom key at the front desk of your residence hall when you check in. 
    • Athletes: You will pick up your bedroom keys from your coach as you will be moving in when the residence hall offices are closed.

    Returning students who lost their fob or student ID: You will need to visit the Card Services office during their business hours to pick up a new ID before you check in to your residence hall.
