Move In Weekend | Fall 2026

BEFORE MOVE IN DAY, NEW & TRANSFER STUDENTS MUST:

• Submit Their Meningitis A Vaccination Record to Student Health Services
  Check your MyHousing Portal. If you have an alert on your homepage, you are not in compliance with this requirement and you will not be permitted to move in, drop off your belongings, or be a guest of another student on campus. 
  
  If you do not have an alert in your MyHousing Portal, you are in compliance and are cleared to move in.
  
  If you arrive to campus on move in day with your vaccination record in your hand, you must visit Student Health Services before reporting to your move in day entry point. 
  
  Student Health Services will be open on Saturday, August 22nd: 9:00am - 3:00pm
  
  
  
• Have Their Student ID
  If you did not pick up your student ID during SOAR, or if you lost it over the summer, you will need to visit Card Services before reporting to your campus entry point for move-in. Your ID card will be required during check in. Your ID card is critical as it acts as the key to your residence hall and is required in the dining hall.
  
  Card Services is open Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm and will be open during move in:
  • Saturday, August 22nd: 9:00am - 3:00pm
  • Sunday, August 23rd: 10:00am - 4:00pm
    
    
• Complete the Emergency Contact Form
  Complete it on-line prior to August 3rd at 8am at the link here to save yourself 20 minutes during move-in. If you do not complete it on-line you will need to complete it during move-in. Find the Emergency Contact Form Here. 
  
  
  
• Schedule Your Move In Timeslot
  On August 3rd, each student will receive an Eastern email with a link to sign up for a move-in time. The link takes them to an Eventbrite page where they can choose an available move-in time for their residence hall.

New & Transfer Student Move In Day is: Saturday, August 22nd, by appointment only

Scheduling A Move-In Time:
On August 3^rd prior to 2pm, each student will receive an Eastern email from Paul Serignese with a link to sign up for a move-in time. The link takes them to an Eventbrite page where they can choose an available move-in time for their residence hall.

• If you have a housing assignment, and you do not not have the email as of August 3^rd at 2pm call the Housing Office at 860.465.5297.

Once a time slot is full, it will no longer appear as an available time. Each student must sign up for one appointment. Appointment times are as follows:

After signing up for a move-in timeslot, students will receive their ticket from Eventbrite along with instructions on which entrance to use when arriving to campus, where belongings will be unloaded, and where vehicles can be parked during move in. 

Students will be asked to show their move-in ticket at the entrance assigned to them.

Students who use the incorrect entrance will be asked to leave the line and report to their correct entrance to have their ticket scanned. Printed tickets and tickets on mobile devices can be scanned.

Those who arrive to campus before their or their student's self-selected timeslot, or without a move-in ticket will be directed to wait in a holding parking lot. 

ARRIVING TO CAMPUS:
After a student signs up for their move-in timeslot, they will receive an email which includes:

• Which campus entry point to use,
• Where their belongings can be dropped off, and
• Where their vehicle can be parked while finishing their move in.

When a student arrives at their entry point during their self-selected timeslot, their move-in ticket will be scanned (printed or on a mobile device).

Students and their helpers who arrive before their move in timeslot will be redirected to a holding lot to wait for their timeslot. 

UNLOADING YOUR VEHICLE:
After a ticket is scanned, students will be directed to where vehicles can be unloaded. Vehicles are unloaded at their designated location, and then immediately moved to an assigned parking lot or garage.

Vehicles are not permitted to be left unattended in the unloading areas. 

MOVING BELONGINGS IN AFTER UNLOADING:
There will be carts available and Welcome Crew Volunteers will be glad to assist moving belongings into the residence halls.

We encourage students to label their boxes and bags with their residence hall and room number to ensure that all belongings arrive where they need to go.

When a student arrives to the entry of the residence hall for the first time, they must check in with their residence hall staff. There, they will pick up any other needed keys, complete their move-in paperwork, and be cleared to fully move into the residence hall.

MOVE IN DAY ENTRANCES

Please use the Campus Map and chart below to find your move-in day entry point. 

It’s tempting to bring our furry friends with us for a memorable day, however they are not permitted in the residence halls and it will be way too hot outside to leave them in the car safely, even with the windows down.

Animals that are not approved to be in the residence hall by the Office of AccessAbility Services will be asked to be removed immediately.

If a student has a pending accommodation with the Office of AccessAbility Services for a support animal, the animal cannot be in the residence hall until the pending accommodation is approved fully and the Office of Housing & Residential Life are notified. Lists of approved animals are kept by housing staff.

• Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: It’s August, friends! It is typically hot and humid this time of year and we encourage everyone to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to and on the day of move-in. There will be water stations around campus however you can bring your own water bottles with you.
  
  
• Dress for movement and hot weather: We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, closed toed shoes, and to expect it to be warm. Residence halls with air conditioning may not feel cool at first as the doors will be propped open and there will be a lot of people in the building. Once the doors can be closed and guests and families leave the halls, the halls will cool down.
  
  
• Carts & Hand Trucks: Each hall will have a limited number of carts available for use on move-in day which means that they will be rarely available to all students moving in. We recommend bringing a cart or hand truck for move-in day for Constitution Hall, High Rise, Laurel Hall, Mead Hall, Niejadlik Hall, Noble Hall, Nutmeg Hall, Occum Hall and Shafer Halls. If you are bringing a cart or hand truck, we recommend that you label it with your student’s name, room number and phone number.
  
  Burnap Hall, Burr Hall, Crandall Hall, and Winthrop Hall will have carts that can be used to bring belongings from the unloading area to the front door of the building. These halls do not have elevators and carts cannot be brought up and down the stairs.
  
  
• Vehicles During Move In: Vehicles cannot be left unattended in any of our “belonging drop off lanes”, fire lanes, streets, sidewalks, or other non-parking designated areas. Vehicles left in such areas will be subject to ticketing and/or towing at the owner’s expense. You may have to unload your belongings and then immediately move your vehicle. Vehicles cannot be left unattended in “belonging drop off lanes”. Campus Police and staff will be present to let you know where you can use long-term parking.
  
  
• Put Labels On Belongings: It’s highly recommended that students label all of their belongings with their name, hall and room number just in case a box, bin, or bag is found and needs to be returned.
  
  
• Handicap Parking: Please note that there may not be handicapped parking spaces available by each residence hall during move-in day.
  
  
• Make Sure You Have Your Student ID
  If you do not have your Eastern student ID, you will need to visit Card Services before reporting to your campus entry point for move-in. You will need to enter campus at the Main entrance at Eastern Road and park in the Gelsi-Young parking lot O. Your Eastern ID card is required during check-in.

If a student is part of an early arrival group or needs an early arrival time prior to their regular move in day as noted in the prior sections, they must follow all instructions in the Early Arrival Process located here.
