Getting Involved in Housing

Programs, Organizations, and Leadership Opportunities

Getting involved in Housing & Residential Life programs at Eastern Connecticut State University is one of the best ways to build friendships, discover new interests, and create a true sense of belonging on campus. Whether you're attending a social event, participating in a leadership opportunity, or exploring a new hobby, these programs help you connect with your community beyond the classroom. Students who get involved often find they feel more at home, develop valuable life skills, and make lasting memories throughout their college experience.

Residence Hall Association

  • Residence Hall Associations (RHA's) are the student-run social organizations in each building and for all buildings, whose purpose is to enhance the community at Eastern. Any resident at Eastern can join the RHA for their assigned hall. With your ideas and help, these organizations plan various activities to develop a strong community on campus. They are also a great place to gain leadership experience. Get involved - join today!
  • COMING SOON: Each residence hall will publish when and where RHA meetings are held in the first few weeks of the fall semester.
  • Not ready to run for a leadership position? Become a general member of your Residence Hall Association (RHA) and have a voice in shaping your residential community. General members can attend meetings, share ideas, help plan events, and volunteer at programs while meeting new people and building connections throughout the hall.

    Plus, students earn
1 Priority Point for each RHA meeting they attend and actively participate in, making it an easy way to get involved, strengthen your community, and earn rewards for future housing selection.

  • Want to make your voice heard and help shape the residential experience at Eastern? Join your Residence Hall Association (RHA)! During the first three weeks of each semester, every residence hall holds elections for student leaders, including President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and additional support positions as needed. As an RHA leader, you'll work alongside fellow residents and Housing & Residential Life staff to plan events, advocate for your community, and create a fun, welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

Serving in an RHA leadership role doesn't just make a difference—it can benefit you, too. Students who are actively serving in their position as of April 1 and successfully complete their responsibilities are eligible to earn Housing Selection Priority Points for the following year.

    Presidents earn
20 Priority Points, while Vice Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Public Relations Officers, and UROC Representatives earn 15 Priority Points.

Whether you're looking to build your résumé, develop leadership skills, meet new people, or leave your mark on campus, RHA is the perfect place to get started!

University Residential Outreach Council (UROC)
