Eastern takes pride in its 30,000 living alums, some of whom attended when it was known as the Willimantic State Teachers College over 60 years ago. Despite changes in its name, the addition of new buildings, and an increase in student population, Eastern has remained a community of learners bound by shared values and a unified educational experience. The university maintains strong ties with its alums through social gatherings, professional networking, and alumni services. Furthermore, Eastern's alumni support current students through scholarship funds, internship placements, mentorships, and other forms of assistance.

Alumni Testimonials

Fatima Godina
Psychology

Fatima Godina ’22

Fatima co-authored a published article on dual language learners in preschool classrooms. “As a dual language learner myself, it was really interesting to be part of this study. This experience really sparked an interest in the field of research. I love learning, and I think that’s one of the main things that you do as a researcher — you just never stop learning.”

Yoryeli Castro
Health Sciences

Yoryeli Castro ’25

Yoryeli is a health sciences major with an allied sciences concentration, and a minor in medical interpretation in Spanish. “I want to be a physician assistant, specializing in dermatology. I love the idea of constantly learning and the field of medicine can offer me that. I also have a minor in medical interpretation in Spanish because I want to include more diversity and representation in the healthcare field.”

Jennifer Laney ’09
Psychology

Jennifer Laney ’09

Jennifer is an adjunct psychology professor at Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut. “My experience in Eastern’s psychology department has profoundly influenced my work ethic and teaching style. My professors challenged me to be the best version of myself in an environment that was both academically rigorous and empathetic. I strive to create this balance for my own students.”
