Meal Plan Questions

Specific questions regarding meal plans should be directed to the Card Services Office, 228 Wood Support Services Center, second floor or by calling us at (860) 465-5060.

Guest Meals

Enjoy a meal with a guest at Hurley Food Court. You can use Guest Meal (SILVER Plans) or a Block Meal (BLOCK Plans) in conjunction with a student meal. Inform the cashier when dining with a guest. Dining Dollars, EXPRESS CASH and cash may also be used to pay for guests. Prices are listed below.

Don't have a meal plan? You can still enjoy a meal at the Hurley Food Court. Dining Dollars, EXPRESS CASH and CASH are accepted.

Our "Seconds Policy"

Our Seconds Policy allows students to have additional servings of many of your favorite menu selections at Hurley Food Court. Simply ask for more!

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars are funds that are placed on the Eastern EXPRESS CARD. They are part of the meal plan and can only be used for food purchases at the following on-campus Dining Services locations:
Hurley Hall, Library Café, Shafer Café and the Student Center Food Court

  • Select items for purchase. Present your Eastern EXPRESS CARD to the cashier and the amount will be deducted from your Dining Dollars Account.
  • Dining Dollars are in an account separate from EXPRESS CASH. When making a purchase at an on-campus dining services location, the system uses Dining Dollars first before using EXPRESS CASH.
  • Dining Dollars in your account at the end of the fall semester will carry over to the spring semester. They are non-refundable and will zero out at the end of the academic year in May.
  • If you run out of Dining Dollars, all you need to do is purchase EXPRESS CASH (Please see Eastern EXPRESS CARD Information and Brochure).
  • Dining Dollars cannot be used at the following locations:
    Card Services Office, Eastern Bookstore, Health Services, Student Activities, J. Eugene Smith Library, Off-Campus Merchant Locations, Student Activities, Copiers and Printers, Laundry Machines, Vending Machines.

Hurley Food Court Menus

Daily menus are available on the Chartwells Dining Services website at dineoncampus.com/easternct. Click PLACES TO EAT/What's on the menu? Information can also be found on the Chartwells Dining Services mobile app by downloading app on campus from your mobile device app store.

Special Dietary Requirements

Do you need a sick tray or have special dietary requirements? Just let us know and we will work with you to accommodate your situation. Please contact the Chartwells Dining Services General Manager's Office at (860) 465-5207.

Bag Lunch/Dinner

Can't make it to the Food Court because of a conflict with your school, work or athletic schedule? Give Dining Services a copy of your schedule and we will provide you with a Bag Lunch/Dinner of your choice to be picked up at your convenience.

"You're Good to Go" Program

"You're Good to Go" at Hurley Food Court from 11 a.m. until closing. You can get a "to-go" container from the cashier and take it with you. The to-go containers cost $5 which can be purchased with Dining Dollars, EXPRESS Cash or cash. The containers are reusable and can be returned dirty to Hurley Hall and they will issue you a clean one to take with you. To-go containers must be able to close and are not permitted in the dining room. All to-go meals must be eaten outside of Hurley Food Court. One to-go meal is allowed during each meal period, not to be used in conjunction with a regular meal.

Dining Services Policies

  • Please bus your dishes and disposables when you have finished dining.
  • Only take the food you can eat, you can always go back for seconds.
  • Please do not take food, dishes or utensils from the dining hall.
  • Your Eastern EXPRESS CARD and Meal Plan is non-transferable. 
  • Please do not lend your Eastern EXPRESS CARD to anyone or borrow one from someone else.
  • You must present your Eastern EXPRESS CARD to use your meal plan, EXPRESS CASH or Dining Dollars.

Chartwells Dining Services has an impressive Catering Department. A full range of catering services are available to students, faculty, staff and campus organizations. Chartwells offers a no frills reduced cost "Good To Go" catering menu available only to Eastern Student Housing or recognized Student Clubs and Organizations.
