Interested in Majoring in Music?

Audition Process

Since we are unable to hold our on-campus Spring Open House & Audition Day, the Music Program is excited to offer online auditions for all incoming students.

All applicants wishing to enroll as a Music Major at Eastern should complete the following:

  1. Apply to the Office of Admissions at Eastern Connecticut State University. Fulfill all general admissions guidelines as outlined here by the Office of Admissions.

  2. All admitted students planning to major in music are asked to complete the Music Audition Form and submit a brief performance sample so that our faculty can get to know you better (there will be a space to share links to your videos in the form).

  3. A Music Program faculty member will be in touch to answer any questions you have about the Music Program or the opportunities available for your here at Eastern.

Audition Requirements

Audition submissions should include two selections or movements in contrasting styles. Please choose selections that demonstrate your ability to accurately perform basic fundamentals associated with one's instrument or voice such as clear and focused tone quality, an understanding of the interpretation of musical line, accurate rhythm and good intonation.

Format: Videos should be posted to YouTube as “unlisted”. Students will share the link to their videos when they submit the Music Audition Form above.

If you are uncertain about how to properly prepare for these auditions or have questions about video format, please contact us at musicauditions@easternct.edu for guidance. We are happy to help!
