Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Eastern

Eastern's cohort-based Nursing program is dedicated to educating the future leaders of the nursing profession. Combining the core values of the liberal arts with innovating clinical experiences, students will obtain the necessary skills to provide exceptional healthcare to our community. In partnership with Hartford Healthcare, students benefit from experienced clinical faculty, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation lab at Windham Hospital, and clinical rotations at diverse Hartford Healthcare sites.

After completion, students will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

  • Students are directly admitted to the Nursing program. 
  • Four-year cohort-based program, with approximately 60 students in each cohort.
  • After completion, students will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

Application Information

BSN Program Admission Criteria

  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale.
  • Four years of science courses in high school are highly recommended. Students should earn a C or above in nursing-related science courses such as chemistry, biology and human anatomy.
  • Completion of Pre-Calculus course in high school is recommended. If students did not complete Pre-Calculus in high school, they may take it over the summer or complete the course during the first year of the Nursing Program.

 

BSN Program Application Requirements

  • Application to Eastern Connecticut State University.
  • Nursing Personal Statement. You will be prompted to include this in your application, or you may email it within one week to admissions@easternct.edu. The personal statement (limited to 500 words) should address the following: What educational and life experiences have led you to become interested in the nursing profession?
  • Strongly encouraged: letter of recommendation from science teacher.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Applications for fall 2024 will continue to be reviewed as space permits.

    Students interested in joining Eastern for fall 2025 should apply by our early action deadline of November 15. Early action applicants will receive their admission and major decision on December 15.

    After that, applications will be reviewed if space permits.
