Fall First-Year Student Guide

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR

ADMISSION TO EASTERN!

Dare to be extraordinary at Eastern Connecticut State University. It's a place where a love of learning is palpable - and the drive to make a difference is even more so. You are officially on your way to becoming a Warrior! This guide will help ensure that you are fully prepared for the start of the fall 2021 semester. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Take a moment to enjoy this incredible milestone in your life - you're going to college! Unfold your acceptance packet to reveal the #Eastern2025 banner, and take a photo with it to commemorate the occasion. If you post it on Instagram and tag @WhyEastern, we could feature you on our page!
  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible to qualify for grants and other funding. Eastern's priority deadline is March 1, 2021. Need-based financial aid award offers will be mailed home beginning in January 2021. You may also view your offer online by following steps 1-10 on this page: www.easternct.edu/accept-aid
  • Your Office 365 e-mail account is the primary source of communication between you and Eastern. Prior to arriving to campus, you will receive emails to inform you about placement testing, housing, financial aid, and registration. Your account credentials are also used to access eWeb to submit your deposits, register for classes, view your financial aid, and more. View instructions on how to activate your Office 365 account; please refer to your acceptance letter for your Eastern ID, username, and email address.
  • Commit to being a Warrior! Deposits must be submitted to reserve courses and residence hall space by May 1, 2021. The University reserves the right to return deposits received after enrollment capacity has been reached. View step-by-step instructions for paying your deposit(s).

Students living on campus: $450 non-refundable tuition and housing deposit.

Students living off campus: $200 non-refundable tuition deposit.
  • Visit Housing & Residential Life's website for detailed application instructions after submitting the deposit(s) in Step 4. On the housing application, you may rank your top three residence halls. Want a refresher of the different options available for first-year students? Click here for a brief overview.

Hall placement will be determined in a first-come, first-served manner based on the date your housing deposit is submitted. Hall assignments do not begin until April 15. Be sure to check your Eastern email account for updates after this date.
  • SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) is an overnight orientation program in the summer designed to introduce all new first-year students to life on campus.

Visit the Orientation page and select First-Year Students for detailed information and to register to attend a SOAR Session. You must submit your non-refundable tuition deposit prior to reserving a SOAR date.

SOAR Dates: June 14-15, June 17-18, June 21-22, June 24-25

  • Please go to Health Services for the required health forms. Be sure to review the “Five Things You Need to Read” form.
  • After you have submitted your deposit(s), you will receive information from the Advising Center regarding Fall 2021 course registration. If applicable, you will also receive instructions about English and/or Mathematics placement assessments. Please be sure to check your Eastern email regularly, as we will begin sending this information in April.
  • Make sure your final high school transcript as well as any Advanced Placement exam scores and transcripts for college-level courses are submitted to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible.
