Fall First-Year Student Guide

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR

ADMISSION TO EASTERN!

Dare to be extraordinary at Eastern Connecticut State University. It's a place where a love of learning is palpable-and the drive to make a difference is even more so. You are officially on your way to becoming a Warrior! This guide will help ensure that you are fully prepared for the start of the fall 2020 semester. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible, or before March 1, 2020 in order to qualify for grants and other funding. For more information, visit Financial Aid's website or call (860) 465-5205.
  • Your Office 365 e-mail account is the primary source of communication between you and Eastern. Prior to arriving to campus, you will receive emails to inform you about placement testing, housing, financial aid, and registration. Your account credentials are also used to access eWeb to submit your deposits, register for classes, view your financial aid, and more. View instructions on how to activate your Office 365 account; please refer to your acceptance letter for your Eastern ID, username, and email address.
  • Commit to being a Warrior! Deposits must be submitted to reserve courses and residence hall space by May 15, 2020. The University reserves the right to return deposits received after enrollment capacity has been reached. View step-by-step instructions for paying your deposit(s).

Students living on campus: $450 non-refundable tuition and housing deposit.

Students living off campus: $200 non-refundable tuition deposit.
  • Visit Housing & Residential Life's website for detailed application instructions after submitting the deposit(s) in Step 3. On the housing application, you may rank your top three residence halls. Want a refresher of the different options available for first-year students? Click here for a brief overview.

Hall placement will be determined in a first-come, first-served manner based on the date your housing deposit is submitted. Hall assignments do not begin until April 15. Be sure to check your Eastern email account for updates after this date.
  • SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) is a program designed to introduce all new first-year students to life on campus. Eastern has decided to host SOAR virtually for the Class of 2024.

Visit the Orientation page and select First-Year Students for updated information on our virtual orientation programs happening in Summer 2020. Students must submit the non-refundable tuition deposit prior to completing the SOAR requirement.
  • Advisors will complete your fall course schedule by June 19. Check your Eastern email for details and directions on how to view your current schedule.

On June 29, you will receive an invite to meet with an advisor. Check your Eastern email; the invite will be a clickable link that will bring you to our scheduling and advising tool, GradesFirst. You can schedule a meeting with an advisor between June 30 - August 7.

    During this meeting, you may:
    • Make schedule changes, if needed
    • Ask questions about the upcoming fall semester
    • Let an advisor know about any incoming credits (AP/ECE)
    • Make a professional connection on campus
  • Please go to Health Services for the required health forms. Be sure to review the “Five Things You Need to Read” form.
  • Make sure your final high school transcript as well as any Advanced Placement exam scores and transcripts for college-level courses are submitted to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible.
