The History department wishes a happy retirement to Dr. Joan Meznar, who is leaving after 20 years at Eastern. In that time, she taught courses in world and Latin American history, and introduced her students to the histories of Mexico and Brazil, as well as the impact of drugs and terrorism on the region. She was an integral part of the Latin American Studies program, taught courses in the Women’s Studies program, and has published research on religion and gender in Brazil. She also served as History department chair from 2017-2019. We wish her well in retirement!
