Department & Program Software and Technical Support

This page contains various additional resources for students taking department courses and those interested in pursuing a major, minor or certification offered by the Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems.  Please email the department chair or secretary if you have questions.
  • Students with Apple Computers:
    Students with Apple Computers (Mac and MacBooks) to run Microsoft/IBM software for which there are not Apple version of the software will need to install an emulator application that allows Microsoft/IBM software to run inside of an emulator session. The free emulator used by the most BIS students in Spring 2020 is listed below. Students with Apple Computers unable to run an emulator on the Mac/MacBook computers can use Lucidchart instead of Microsoft Visio.

  • Students not able to run course required effectively on their own computer, please see the following instructions for different remote access to campus computers located in the Library, Webb 410 or other locations:

    NOTE: Remote Access to the Webb Hall - BIS Lab Computers is restricted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:45 PM to 3:30 PM to students taking BIS 449 - Data Visualization ONLY. For general campus lab available software, please use Webb 410 Remote Access Computers, instead of the BIS Lab computers, which have special software installed needed for specific BIS courses.     Microsoft Azure Software: Microsoft Imagine-Azure Software Instructions

    The Business Information Systems Program is a STEM discipline. Therefore, Microsoft makes available through their Microsoft (Imagine/Azure) Academic Alliance Program special STEM discipline software needed by students taking department courses. Some basic guidelines for installing this department Microsoft software are:

    • Install the software on a computer that you intend to use the most for the next couple of years for doing your homework and course projects. (You are only given 1 License to the software from the department.)
    • Install ONLY NEEDED Software for your current courses so you are not stuck with older versions of software for future courses.
    • Remember the software is to be used for your personal academic purposes only
  • BIS Program – IBM Software:

    Students taking some BIS 3XX and BIS 4XX courses may require special IBM Software. Please do not install the IBM software until needed so that the license doesn't expire when you need it or have an older version on your computer.
