Eastern’s Emergency Services and Public Safety Careers Certificate prepares students for meaningful work in public safety, emergency services and related fields. Through career-focused coursework, experiential learning and a required internship, students gain firsthand experience while developing the professional skills that federal, state, municipal and private employers value most.
The 12-credit certificate is designed for students interested in emergency services, public safety, law enforcement, corrections, forensic services, emergency communications and related career pathways. Public safety careers require more than technical knowledge. Employers are looking for graduates who can communicate clearly, work well with others, lead with integrity, adapt under pressure and demonstrate professionalism in complex environments.
Eastern’s certificate is built around the skills employers identify as most needed in recent hires, including professional writing, verbal communication, resiliency, conscientiousness, leadership and collaboration.
