Political Science Internships

Internship opportunities

The Public Policy and Government program at Eastern has a broad range of internship options available for students. Credits for internship range from three semester hours to a complete semester of 15 hours.

Students do not need to be political science majors in order to complete and receive credit for a political internship.

Municipal Government Internship
Many local government institutions, quasi-governmental organizations and local political campaigns have welcomed Eastern interns in Eastern Connecticut and as well as throughout the State.

State Government Internship
Over the years hundreds of interns have worked in state government, with the State Legislative Internship Program, the Governor's office, political campaigns for state office or other administrative agencies. Eastern interns have become highly sought after in state government.

Law Internship
Many students have worked with private legal firms as well as public legal agencies throughout the State.

National Government Internship
Over 60 Eastern students have interned in Washington, D.C. for an entire semester. Included within the broad range of placements are: Congressional staffs, both House and Senate; Departments of State, Justice, Energy, and Environmental Protection Agency; interest groups, legal firms and many others.

International Internship
International interns have worked in Liberia, Malta and with the Regional United Nations Agency in Nairobi, Kenya.
