Coaching Minor

The Coaching Minor is useful for those interested in working with young people in interscholastic sports programs and community volunteer sports programs.  Courses introduce students to the philosophical, scientific, and developmental aspects of conducting sports programs. 

A minimum of nine (9) unique credits is required to complete a minor. 

Requirements for Coaching Minor (15 credits)


Required Course:
  • HSC 332 Coaching Youth Sports (3 Credits)
Select four (4) courses:
  • HSC 307 Strength and Conditioning (3 Credits)
  • HSC 320 Sports Nutrition (3 Credits)
  • HSC 342 Sport Psychology (3 credits)
  • HSC 356 Exercise Physiology (3 Credits)
  • HSC 370 Athletic Training (3 Credits)
  • HSC 450 Seminar in Human Performance (3 Credits)

* Students will also be required to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification from either American Red Cross or American Heart Association.  Certification practical exams must be on-ground.
