First-Year Resident Student Parking

Eastern resident students seeking to have a car on campus during their first year (less than 24 total credits) must apply for permission from Eastern’s Department of Public Safety. Students seeking a car accommodation due to mobility limitations must register with the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) by completing a self-disclosure form and submitting documentation that identifies and supports a medical necessity of a disability that significantly impacts mobility. Students seeking to register must follow these steps to register with the OAS:

1. Register with the OAS - Eastern website and then create a student profile in our Accommodate Symplicity Portal where you can also upload your documentation of a disability.
2. The forms needed are found on our website - OAS Forms and Resources - Eastern where you can select the appropriate Documentation of Disability Form(s) that support your accommodation request.
3. Requests for car accommodations must also include information on how the disability creates barriers to walking or accessing campus from standard parking areas and how these mobility barriers support the need for accessible parking.
4. Your provider may also send the forms to our office directly via email accessability@easternct.edu or fax 860-465-0136. Once our office reviews your documentation, you will get an email from AccessAbility@easternct.edu to your Eastern email to schedule an Intake appointment and discuss your accommodations plan. This process may take 1 – 3 weeks, depending on the volume and the time of year.
