**The 2023 Columbus Day Holiday will be observed as follows:

The University will be open, and classes will be in session on this day. Please see below for how the holiday is handled for your employment group:

AAUP & SUOAF Employees:

For AAUP & SUOAF employees, Monday October 9, 2023 will be a regular work day. The Columbus Day holiday will be observed on the day before Thanksgiving, which is Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

AFSCME-Clerical & Maintenance & Service Union Employees:

The official observance is Monday, October 9, 2023, however, many employees will be required to work on that day since classes will be in session. Any employee required to work on that day will receive their regular pay and receive a compensatory day off in lieu of the holiday.
 
A&R Employees:

The official observance is Monday, October 9, 2023, however, many employees will be required to work on that day since classes will be in session. Any employee required to work on that day will earn a compensatory day plus time and a half for all hours worked.

Connecticut Police & Fire Union Employees (NP-5):

The official observance is Monday, October 9, 2023, however, many employees will be required to work on that day since classes will be in session. Any employee required to work on that day will earn a compensatory day and will be paid straight time for all hours worked on the holiday in addition to their regular day’s pay.

Management/Confidential Employees:

For Management/Confidential employees, Monday, October 9, 2023, however, many employees will be required to work on that day since the University is open. Any employee that works on that day will earn a compensatory day off in lieu of the holiday.

 

***The 2023 Veterans Day Holiday will be observed as follows:

This year, Veterans Day will be observed on Friday, November 10, 2023. The University will be open, and classes will be in session on this day. Please see below for how the holiday is handled for your employment group:

A&R Employees:

The official observance is Friday, November 10, 2023, however, many employees will be required to work on that day since classes will be in session. Any employee required to work on that day will earn a compensatory day plus time and a half for all hours worked. 

AAUP, SUOAF & Management/Confidential:

Veterans Day is not a designated paid holiday, instead this holiday is observed the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 24, 2023.

Clerical Employees:

For Clerical employees, Friday, November 10, 2023 will be a regular work day. The Veterans’ Day holiday will be observed on the day after Thanksgiving, which is Friday, November 24, 2023.
