Dr. Kwangwon Lee
Dr. Kwangwon Lee, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Special Education, has been granted sabbatical leave for the fall semester of 2025. His project is titled "Empowering Parents: Creating a Web-Based Autism Education Module”.
During his sabbatical, Dr. Lee will develop a web-based parent education module to support parents of children with autism. This online resource will cover topics such as autism basics, strategies for promoting social communication, strengths-based services, and building strong parent-child relationships. After development, Dr. Lee will collaborate with local service providers, individuals with autism, and faculty experts to gather feedback and refine the module before distributing it to families. This project builds on Dr. Lee’s prior research in early social communication and addresses the need for accessible, flexible parent education that families can complete on their own schedule. This project is designed to provide meaningful support to families while furthering Dr. Lee’s research on parent education and social communication in autism.
Recently, Dr. Lee co-published an article with Dr. Jeffrey Trawick-Smith in the journal Young Children, titled "Turn-taking play to support preschool children with Autism Spectrum." Explore more of Dr. Lee's ongoing research in the field of special education here.
