CECE Researchers Interviewed for 3 Articles about STEM Toys

On July 21, 2020, CECE director Julia DeLapp was interviewed for an article by The New York Times on the impact of STEM toys. DeLapp described how simple, building toys are STEM toys and may be the most effective.

On August 17, 2020 professor emeritus Jeffrey Trawick-Smith was interviewed for an article by LiveScience on the best STEM toys. Trawick-Smith explains through the CECE’s TIMPANI study that classic toys like blocks, trains, puzzles and board games are some of the best to promote STEM learning.

On August 25, 2020, Trawick-Smith was interviewed by LiveScience for an article about the effect of STEM toys on teaching math and science. This article also cited a study on preschoolers coding conducted by professor Dr. Sudha Swaminathan and undergraduate researcher Jenna Mazza.
