The School of Education and Professional Studies (SEPS) builds on a strong foundation in liberal arts and offers a variety of academic programs for students to acquire the skills and knowledge they need for successful professional careers.
Our academic programs encourage students to develop a theoretical base that informs practical experiences in the field — such as internships, cooperative placements and research opportunities — largely offered during the junior and senior year.
Eastern graduates are recruited by educational, business, industrial, medical, mass media and nonprofit organizations because of the organizational and interpersonal relations skills they develop through their academic programs, as well as hands-on learning experiences outside of the classroom. Eastern graduates are well prepared to continue their professional and personal growth and develop in a complex and rapidly changing society.

This summer, dozens of Eastern students completed internships, co-ops, and fellowships in fields ranging from marketing and insurance to nursing and news broadcasting, gaining hands-on experience and industry know-how while preparing for future careers.
“ETVNews,” Eastern’s live, student-run television news broadcast, has long been a staple of the University’s communication program. Professor Andrew Utterback, advisor for ETVNews (formerly News22), hosted an alumni reunion on April 30, drawing a robust turnout of former collegiate news anchors and producers.
Eastern’s Master of Science in Applied Data Science program recently made a meaningful addition to its roster of sponsors, providing students an entrée into sports analytics. Titled “DSC 509: Data Science Practicum,” the course features a partnership with Trackman, a leading sports metrics company.
