The School of Education and Professional Studies (SEPS) builds on a strong foundation in liberal arts and offers a variety of academic programs for students to acquire the skills and knowledge they need for successful professional careers.
Our academic programs encourage students to develop a theoretical base that informs practical experiences in the field — such as internships, cooperative placements and research opportunities — largely offered during the junior and senior year.
Eastern graduates are recruited by educational, business, industrial, medical, mass media and nonprofit organizations because of the organizational and interpersonal relations skills they develop through their academic programs, as well as hands-on learning experiences outside of the classroom. Eastern graduates are well prepared to continue their professional and personal growth and develop in a complex and rapidly changing society.

Eastern faculty, alumni, and guest speakers examined the state of censorship at a Banned Books Week-inspired event on Oct. 6. Titled “An Update: Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read and Reject Suppression of Thoughts, Ideas in Media, Culture, Art, and Publicly Supported Spaces,” the event featured presentations by librarians and Eastern faculty.
As accounting firms face an era of talent retiring in droves, more than a dozen of them descended on Eastern Connecticut State University for the school’s 22nd annual Accounting Fair. Held on Oct. 1, more than 100 students perused firms eager to scout new talent from the University’s accounting program.
Eastern Connecticut State University convened a panel of faculty on Sept. 10 to discuss the ongoing historic, political, psychological, and economic impacts of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Held in the Student Center Theatre, the panelists approached the topic from different perspectives, giving audience members a dynamic view of the attacks 25 years later.
