Grace Carlos ’23

Political Science major Grace Victoria Carlos ’23 is a scheduler for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, where she manages the member’s Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles scheduling, daily operations, coordinates complex scheduling needs, and ensures efficient execution of internal and external engagements. “Capitol Hill is a fast-paced environment so there’s not a lot of hand holding. Knowing the legislative process, its impact, and U.S. history has been very helpful. Being a part of Eastern’s political science club and pre-law society has prepared me professionally with networking, marketing myself and going into new spaces confidently.”

“From the moment I stepped on Eastern’s campus I knew it was the school for me. The faculty, staff, and students were so welcoming and helpful. I also appreciated the fact that it was a liberal arts college. This provided me the opportunity to take classes in areas I was interested in which made learning fun for me. As a commuter, I was concerned about building community at Eastern. The extracurricular activities were always accessible for commuter students. It allowed me to make lifelong friendships and dive deeper into interest areas outside of the classroom.

“Professor Mendoza was and still is special for me. He was my professor and academic advisor when I started at Eastern. He helped me narrow down what areas within political science were important to me. He helped me navigate the job search upon graduation. He gave me words of wisdom and how to use my network I built at Eastern to achieve my career goals and get to Washington, D.C. He is still someone I go to for advice on navigating the professional, political and education spaces.”
