Title IX Case Log

Definitions to Consider

 

  • Disclosure: A disclosure occurs when an individual shares information about a potential incident of sexual harassment, discrimination, or misconduct. This may be shared with a responsible employee, Title IX Coordinator, or other campus official, but does not automatically initiate a formal investigation.
  • Formal Complaint: A formal complaint is a written and signed document submitted by a complainant (or signed by the Title IX Coordinator) requesting the institution to investigate an alleged Title IX violation. This initiates the formal grievance process.
  • Respondent: The individual who has been reported to be the perpetrator of conduct that could violate Title IX.
  • College Respondent: A respondent who is a member of the college community, such as a student, faculty, or staff member.
  • Non-College Respondent: A respondent who is not affiliated with the college (ex. A visitor, contractor, or someone external to the institution.
