• Micro Internships

  What is a micro internship? According to Parker Dewey, an industry leader in micro internships:

  Micro-Internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable Career Launchers to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their networks as they seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off. Micro-Internships are used by companies ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups, and go across departments including sales, marketing, technology, HR, and finance. All Micro-Internships on the Parker Dewey platform are fixed-fee, paid engagements.

  How can I increase my chances to get hired for a Micro Internship?

  • Student chances of being selected increase between 5 and 10 applications
  • Have headshots match industry style, for example finance/business/data science would have a straight on headshot, while marketing, new media studies, social media would have something more artistic
  • Have each section of the profile talk about a different skill: Here are some tips/examples.
  • Check to make sure that the uploaded resume fills one page and does not have additional pages with less relevant information to the industry of interest
  • Add a highlighted experience section to a profile - even if there is not external professional experience related to the career goal yet, this section can highlight extracurricular projects or class projects that show off the relevant skills they're developing in the degree program
