The teacher education programs at the School of Education and Professional Studies at Eastern Connecticut State University were evaluated in 2017 by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and have been approved for continuing accreditation until 2022.

The following Initial programs were reviewed at the 2017 NCATE review:

  • Early childhood education (graduate)
  • Early childhood education (undergraduate)
  • Elementary education (graduate) 
  • Elementary education (undergraduate)
  • Secondary education: Math (graduate)
  • Secondary education: Math (undergraduate)
  • Secondary education: English (graduate)
  • Secondary education: English (undergraduate)
  • Secondary education: Biology and Earth Science (graduate)
  • Secondary education: History/Social Studies (graduate)
  • Secondary education: History/Social Studies (undergraduate)
  • Physical Education (undergraduate)

The Education Preparation Programs (EPP) at Eastern continue to work on program improvements to gain accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) at the upcoming site visit in Fall 2021. Data on our program outcomes and impact have been displayed at the CAEP Annual Reporting Measures page.

Additionally, individual teacher education programs at Eastern have been nationally recognized by the following professional associations:

  • Association of Childhood Education International (ACEI)
  • National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
  • National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)
  • National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE)
  • National Science Teaching Association (NSTA)
  • National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
