6.1.e

6.1.e Unit Resources including Technology

Summarize resource allocations to support candidates in meeting standards, with provisions for
assessment, technology, professional development, and support for off-campus, distance learning,
and alternative route programs when applicable.

Information Technology Services (ITS) and its various offices support Eastern's EPP and our candidates
by providing access to varied and up-to-date technologies, platforms, resources, and state of the art
facilities. They work in close concert with our programs to create customized classroom environments
that are tailored to individual program and are conducive to learning, critical thinking, and engagement.
ITS provides a wide range of services for the campus including Eastern's network services, providing
accounts, file storage, printing, websites, email, and other technology services. Candidates can avail
themselves of the Help Desk and desktop support services, including any resolution of hardware and
software problems. ITS offers lab assistance and support at all the instructional computer and
multimedia classrooms and the general-purpose computer lab that also includes assistance with
Blackboard, our course management system. Media services provide training and renting of video
technology to our candidates to record themselves in the field during clinical experiences. Off-campus
access to library resources and Blackboard are maintained by ITS. Eastern offers select, but limited
distance learning or alternative route programs at this time (e.g., M.S. in Educational Technology). All
EPP courses are offered an online shell within Blackboard and almost all faculty use it for distributing
class materials, conducting threaded discussions, collecting and evaluating course assignments, and
enabling peer sharing and group work. Faculty also use the technological resources, including
Blackboard, to enable candidate-run wikis and portfolios.
