5.1.d Modeling Best Professional Practices in Service

Summarize unit's expectations for and evaluations of its professional education faculty regarding
modeling best professional practices in service.

Eastern EPP are expected to contribute in service-related activities to their department, the university,
local community and their professional associations. Eastern faculty exemplify service in the numbers of
committees they serve and the projects for which they participate, lead and advocate. Several faculty in
the Eastern EPP have been commended by our university for their extraordinary commitment to service.
Faculty have also received service awards from the community for their commitment to working with
the local and regional communities.

A perusal of our faculty's Curriculum Vitae indicates that our faculty have served in 12 university-wide
committees during the 2015-2016 academic year alone. These committees include Academic Affairs,
Curriculum, Liberal Arts Program, Liberal Arts Works, Personnel Policies, Diversity and Social Justice,
Faculty Development, Individualized Major, Mediation, Sabbatic Leave, and University Writing Board.
EPP faculty have been instrumental in leading major academic and student-centered developments at
Eastern including the development of the liberal arts core curriculum, the university's Strategic Plan
design, implementation and assessment, liaison and leading roles with Connecticut State University
Systems in designing the transfer agreement between communities and universities, and the coherent
design and implementation of the information technology system.
