Environmental Science and Sustainability: Course Sequence

Check all course descriptions for prerequisites before planning course schedule.  Below is a recommended Sequence. All students must meet the broader university ELAC course requirements and 120 credits to graduate.

PLEASE NOTE: This is idealized course sequence and assumes a first-year, first-time student. Each student’s Pathway will likely differ to some extent based on their course preferences, if they transferred credits to Eastern, etc

First-year Fall

• Gateway EES Course (EES 104/112, EES 220/112 or others. See advising Chart)
• CHE 210/212 General Chemistry I w/Lab - 4 credits
• ENG 100 College Writing – 3 credits (ENG100P 5 Credits)
• LAC 100/101 – LAC Core Seminar 3-credits

15 Credits

First-year Spring

• EES 224 Landform Analysis w/ Lab - 4 credits
• CHE 211/213 General Chemistry II w/Lab - 4 credits
• MAT* Varies by student; (MAT 155 Precalculus recommended) – 4 credits
• ELAC Disciplinary Perspective course – 3 credits

15 Credits

Second-year Fall

• EES 130 Ancient Environments w/Lab - 4 credits
• LAC 200  – LAC Core Seminar 3-credits
• EES 300/301 – Intro to GIS with Lab – 4 credits  or EES 362 – Climate and Weather – 3 credits
• ELAC Disciplinary Perspective courses 3 -6 credits

14-16 Credits

Second-year Spring

• BIO 240 – Ecology with Lab – 4 credits
• MAT 216 – Statistical Data analysis – 3 credits
