Classroom Recording and Intellectual Property Policy Statements

Faculty may wish to include a statement on their syllabus explaining that students may not take audio and/or video recordings in class (unless they have a letter of accommodation from OAS). Below are two possible options.

Option 1

Only students who have an audio recording accommodation approved by the Office of AccessAbility Services (OAS) and have their Letter of Accommodations sent out to faculty for that specific semester are permitted to utilize an audio recording device. Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) faculty/ and or the Office of AccessAbility Services (OAS) have the right to require a student who utilizes an audio recording device as an approved reasonable accommodation through the Office of AccessAbility Services to sign an Audio Recording Agreement and present that agreement to the instructor upon their request.
