Sustainability at CSCU

Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) have made commitments to become carbon neutral and have implemented sustainability actions across their campuses. The Connecticut State Colleges & Universities Energy Master Plan (August 2017) identifies energy for each campus, opportunities, and recommendations for energy management and energy reductions. The colleges and universities are supported in their climate and energy commitments through their involvement with organizations such as the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and AASHE's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), and Second Nature.

In 2016 the Institute for Sustainability benchmarked energy and water use at the 12 CSCU community colleges. This work was done through the support of Energize CT and in coordination with the development of the CSCU Energy Management Plan. The reports summarizing this work provide useful information and graphs on energy and water use at Connecticut's community colleges and highlight opportunities for energy and cost savings.
