The mission of the Institute for Sustainability (IS) at Eastern Connecticut State University is to serve as an objective resource and champion for the transition to sustainable practices in Connecticut. The work of IS will support diverse and bold actions required by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and resilience: for people, prosperity, and planet. The IS will connect individuals, organizations, businesses, and communities in Connecticut to meet the challenges of our changing climate.

The Institute for Sustainability works closely with the Green Campus Committee to plan and implement sustainability initiatives at Eastern.

In addition to initiatives throughout Connecticut, the institute works closely with Eastern's Center for Sustainability Studies and the Facilities Management and Planning Department to promote sustainability throughout the Eastern campus community.

We’re collecting leftover plastic film! The goal is to collect 1000lbs. A bench will be given to the community garden after 1000lbs are collected, and the dorm with the most collected will receive a prize! Click the link in our linktree to learn more.

It will be another day of unseasonably warm weather and beautiful foliage. A perfect day to join a community of readers and outdoor enthusiasts to experience the Hop River Trail right here in Willimantic.
