Green Campus Committee

The Green Campus Committee (GCC) meets once a month to discuss sustainability and environmental initiatives on Eastern's campus. We welcome anyone with an interest in making our campus more sustainable.

Contact Ciara Tennis, University Assistant for Climate and Sustainability Initiatives, or greencampuscommittee@easternct.edu if you have any questions or would like to be added to the GCC contact list.

The Green Campus Committee promotes a multifaceted definition of sustainability. Sustainability meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, and includes three pillars: Environmental Sustainability (planet), Social Sustainability (people), and Economic Sustainability (prosperity).

Some activities and topics include:
  • Annual greenhouse gas inventory
  • The tri-annual submission to the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), a program of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE)
  • Implementing actions in our Climate Action Plan
  • Methods to increase student engagement
  • And more!
