Eastern students enjoy a broad range of on-campus experiences designed to promote academic, social, and personal development. Student Activities staff work with other offices in the Division of Student Affairs, as well as faculty and housing staff, to provide an integrated student life program.
Each summer, a select group of students takes on the important role of welcoming the incoming class of Eastern Warriors to campus. These student orientation counselors (SOCs) guide the first-time college students through Eastern's overnight summer orientation program known as SOAR, which ran in six sessions this June and July. Leading the effort were head SOCs Michael Hemmings and Abby Gallacher.
Pancakes, calligraphy, and Shakespeare – the common denominator among these was their presence at Eastern Connecticut State University’s annual “Spring Fest” celebration. Hundreds of Warriors said their goodbyes to the academic year through an eclectic mix of activities from April 28 to May 3.
The Geissler Gymnasium transformed into a rockin’ night of music, dancing, and vendors on April 15 for “Willipalooza.” The small music festival, hosted by the student-led WECS Radio Club and Storrs-based booking company the Dog P0und, gave an estimated 300 students and community members each a free ticket to see local talent take the stage.
