Commencement Honors

Students graduating with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or better for all course work completed at Eastern, and who have completed a minimum of 45 credits in residence at Eastern, are recognized as honor students with the following designations:

Cum Laude - Average of 3.50 - 3.69 
Magna Cum Laude - Average of 3.70 - 3.89 
Summa Cum Laude - Average of 3.90 - 4.00 

Students graduating with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better for all course work completed at Eastern, but have NOT completed at least 45 credits in residence at Eastern, will receive Dean's Distinction.


Please note the following information:

  • Commencement honors are based on your Cumulative GPA at the time of commencement and DOES NOT consider your midterm progress. There is no appeal process and there are no exceptions to this policy.
  • Once final grades are posted for your graduation term, and if your cumulative GPA changes, your final honor status will be adjusted accordingly. Your final honor status could be different than what was listed for Commencement depended on your final grades.
