The Eastern LSAMP Summer Bridge Program is a required two-week residential program that provides targeted math instruction to help place scholars in the highest and most appropriate math course during their first fall semester and refresher skills to improve their success in gateway courses.
During the Eastern LSAMP Summer Bridge Program scholars will begin strengthening their academic success skills and growth mindset skills, building a peer network and learning community, and begin creating a sense of belonging and self-identity. Scholars will participate in math workshops, foundations for success workshops, and meet and engage with guest speakers through our speaker series. The speaker series creates a holistic approach to helping LSAMP scholars succeed. There are three speaker series. First, the “You in STEM” series is an open and honest dialogue that seeks to strengthen resilience, growth mindset, and self-efficacy through the sharing of one’s academic journey, including challenges, in STEM. The goal of this series is to create a sense of belonging and self-identity in STEM. Second, the “Department Chair” series seeks to inform, motivate, and excite LSAMP scholars about majoring in STEM at Eastern. Finally, the “Your Campus Community” series seeks to establish a comprehensive supportive community comprised of various persons from different backgrounds, who have walked different paths to arrive at their current point in life today. This series supports creating a sense of belonging at Eastern and casting a wider net to establish a welcoming environment where one is seen and acknowledged.
Additionally, LSAMP scholars will receive advising in preparation for the fall semester. We also recognize the importance of balance in one’s life, therefore we will offer social events.
The required 2025 two-week residential Eastern LSAMP Summer Bridge Program runs Sunday, July 13, 2025, through Friday, July 25, 2025. Scholars will arrive to Eastern’s campus on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Scholars will not stay on campus over the weekend. Out-of-state students and students with special circumstances should speak with the Eastern LSAMP Institutional Coordinator. At the end of week 1, scholars will depart campus on Friday, July 18, 2025 and return to campus on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Scholars must provide their own transportation to and from campus on those dates. Scholars will also need to bring their own toilet paper, linens, toiletries, etc. for their stay on campus. Scholars will be held to housing contract/university policies. Week 1 arrival time on Sunday, July 13, 2025: check-in between 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Week 1 departure time on Friday, July 18, 2025: check-out between 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Week 2 arrival time on Sunday, July 20, 2025: check-in between 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
