International Study Abroad allows students to experience the world and the global community. You can gain cultural insight while living and studying along with students of a host country for a full semester, academic year or inter-session while earning Eastern credits.

We have a variety of programs available to students. You can study through a 3rd Party Provider, whereas you pay the organization’s tuition and fees or you can study abroad at one of Eastern's Partner Universities. In most cases, you pay standard tuition and fees to Eastern while paying for housing directly to your host university. You may also study away for a shorter duration by enrolling in one of Eastern’s Global Field Courses, taught by Eastern faculty, or by participating in a short-term intersession program offered by a 3rd Party Provider or partner university.

Credits earned abroad will count as transfer credits and they will not be calculated in the GPA.

Fernando Summer Study Abroad

Fernando Jeronimo '23

“I’ve enjoyed every second of my six-week journey. There are so many people around the world you get to become friends with and whose cultures you get to learn.”

Joshua Newhall ’18

Political Science major Joshua Newhall studied at Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany in spring 2017. “As a political science major I have always been interested in Germany for its unique history and influential role in the European Union and modern international relations. This school also offered several interesting economic courses which I thought would be especially influential coming from a university in the heart of the world's fourth largest economy.”

Carissa Robinson ’18

Art major Carissa Robinson studied at Florence University of the Arts in Italy during wintersession in January 2018. “My decision to study abroad was a huge step out of my comfort zone, but it was worth it in the end. This experience has opened my eyes to many new aspects of life.”

Alexandra Toffolon ’19

Communication major Alexandra Toffolon studied at Lorenzo De’ Medici in Italy in spring 2017. “Going abroad was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Not only are you exposed to a whole new lifestyle, you get to live in an amazing culture surrounded by people from all over the world. So far, I have traveled to four different countries all within one month. My classes are a little challenging, but once you learn how to balance school and a social life, it gets a lot easier!

David Junga ’20

Biology major David Junga studied at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland in spring 2018. “Studying abroad has been the experience of a lifetime! Being in another country has expanded my mind, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and introduced me to extraordinary people. Every day I have the opportunity to try something new and explore a culture vastly different from the one I am accustomed to.”

Lorena Fortunato ‘19

Psychology major Lorena Fortunato studied at the Hellenic American College in Athens, Greece, in spring 2017. “I chose to study in Greece because it has been a dream destination of mine. Ever since I was a little girl I was a huge mythology buff and Greek mythology was definitely one of my favorites.”

Leah Magnoli ’18

Labor Relations and Human Resource Management major Leah Magnoli studied at Dublin City University in spring 2017. She said she appreciated “all the amazing friends I have met, and the great views I have seen traveling in Ireland and throughout other countries. “The most challenging part for me was adjusting to a new school system. DCU relies heavily on final exams, where at Eastern there are more continuous assignments.”

Kayla Rook ’18

Health Sciences major Kayla Rook studied at the Florence University of Art in Italy in spring 2017. “Studying abroad helps you learn to become more independent, which in turn helps prepare you to thrive in the real world once you get out of college. It has also helped with my self-discovery — what I truly like and dislike.”

Lara Colegrove ’18

Psychology major Lara Colegrove studied at LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia, in spring 2017. She discovered she isn’t the only person drawn to Australia from other countries: “I didn't expect to meet so many people from all different parts of the world. It's been such an amazing experience so far and being able to see everything here firsthand is great.”

Daniel Brewer ’20

Business Administration major Daniel Brewer studied in Ireland in spring 2018. “In Ireland, everything’s different from my experiences back home — from class structure to social life. One of my favorite parts about the semester abroad program is that you don’t just meet and make friends with people in the host country — in this case Ireland. I have made friends with English, French and Belgian people as well. I also had the opportunity to spend a week in London.”
