Re-grading Policy Statements

Some faculty allow students to resubmit assignments to improve their grade. When this is the case, it is more equitable to explicitly state on the syllabus that this is a possibility and the circumstances under which it will be allowed (rather than leaving it to the students who think to ask).

Sample Syllabus Statements

Below is an example provided by an Eastern faculty member.

Re-grade or re-submissions: If you receive a grade that you feel is not accurate, you are welcome to set up a time to discuss the grade with me within two weeks of receiving the graded assignment. I accept drafts of work prior to deadlines and am happy to give feedback prior to the deadline. I urge you to take advantage of drafts before the deadline as I cannot guarantee that I will accept re-submissions of work.
