Business Administration

Family Support

A native of Colorado, Vianney is a Business Administration major with an International Business Concentration and a Pre-Law minor.  “The support that my family gave to me during my time at Eastern was extensive and full of love. Not only did my family help me out financially, they also helped me in the little ways that you never really know are there. My mom would help me over the phone, sharing homemade recipes and how to cook the meal that reminded me so much of home. My dad gave me pep talks the night before a big conference or presentation and made sure to help me choose my outfit for those formal events. My sister was there for the endless gossip sessions about college life, and the occasional tears as I dealt with stress and being far away from home. My brother, the youngest, made sure to always send me pictures of my dog while I was away and kept me updated on his grades reminding me that “I’m smart just like my sisters.” My family showed up in more ways than I can describe. Emotionally, economically, and everything else that comes in between, and for that I will forever love and cherish them. Today I can proudly say my degree is as much theirs as it is mine.”

The staff in the Student Activities Office were very helpful. Casey and Amy were always there to help whenever I needed a hand. Whether they were answering my questions, helping fill out paperwork, or directing me to another office, they truly played a big role in my success as Eastern, especially my senior year. Additionally, both my junior and senior year advisors were the best. Professor Norval and Professor Coyne aided me greatly in class selection, deadlines, and ensuring that I was on track to graduate on time as I was a transfer student at Eastern. All of these offices and people truly helped me be successful and enjoy my time at Eastern.”

Faculty Mentors

“There are many faculty mentors who stand out to me, so many that it’s difficult to choose just a few. However, I would like to recognize Professor Emiliano Villanueva for his exceptional mentorship and patience. He is not only a highly skilled professor who challenges students to think more critically in class, but also someone who takes the time to ensure true understanding of the material. He consistently fosters a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when needed. Professor Villanueva creates a learning environment where questions are welcomed and support is always available, which not only strengthens understanding but also encourages students to take intellectual risks and grow in their confidence throughout the course. For these reasons, as a faculty mentor he stands out especially to me or any student looking for both a rigorous and supportive academic experience.”

Career Preparation

“Eastern helped prepare me for my career goals by providing a strong academic foundation while also encouraging me to become actively involved in campus life. Through my coursework, I developed critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills that have been valuable in both my professional and personal growth. Beyond the classroom, my involvement in campus organizations, leadership opportunities, and student-focused programs allowed me to build meaningful connections with faculty, staff, and peers. These experiences helped me develop confidence as a leader, strengthened my ability to work with diverse populations, and deepened my understanding of the importance of community and student support. Being actively engaged on campus not only enriched my college experience but also reinforced my passion for helping students succeed and ultimately guided me toward a career in higher education and student services.”
