Psychology and English

Family Support

“My mom, who traveled to America from Lithuania when she was 21, is my greatest role model. Growing up with a single immigrant mother certainly contributed to my success as a first-generation female college student. Through watching her work long hours, I learned the importance of financial responsibility, perseverance, and willingness to dream big. Whether it was helping me pay for my first semester or her unwavering emotional support over the years, I am so thankful for all the ways she supported me during my time at Eastern.”

Campus Support

“The thing that comes to mind for me is Tails of Joy: the weekly therapy dogs in the library. This service would bring me comfort whenever family and friends were far away.”

Muriel StankeviciuteFaculty Mentors

“I have connected deeply with several professors in Eastern’s English Department. Dr. Donaghy was my faculty advisor all four years at Eastern. In addition to being such a helpful advisor, he is an incredibly compassionate, intelligent, and good person whose guidance helped me get into my top graduate school program.”

Career Preparation

“Every opportunity presented to me today can be attributed to my experience at Eastern. Over four years, I was challenged in many ways — whether it was taking rigorous psychology courses or intellectually-stimulating English courses — that ultimately shaped who I am today. I am leaving Eastern as an informed citizen and a better future educator. I am especially thankful for the seminars and workshops I took during my senior year, as they helped prepare me for my graduate interviews. I am proud to share that I got accepted into a graduate program easily, and that’s certainly thanks to all the skills and experience I gained as Eastern student.”

Muriel will be pursuing her M.A. in secondary education at Quinnipiac University to become an English teacher.
