Campus Support

“The offices that always helped me were the Opportunity Programs Office, the Women's Center, the Student Activity Office, the Pride Center, and the library, which has many resources for any help you need.”

Faculty Mentors

“I really got the opportunity to learn from Professor Emiliano Villanueva. Not only was his teaching very informative, but he also taught and gave advice with wisdom and facts. Also, Mrs. Christina Izarry was an amazing friend who helped me when I felt lost or didn't have any way to figure things out.”

Jonathan Herrera ReyesCareer Development

“Eastern was that push I needed to demonstrate to myself that I was capable of opening doors I didn't know were possible. My Eastern classes enhanced my communication, leadership and teamwork skills. Also, requiring an internship for your degree was very effective since it prepares you for what comes next.

My Advice to Other First-Generation Students

“For anyone who is a first-generation student, don't give up, and don't be scared to ask for assistance. Put yourself out there, for example, participate in school events or even volunteer; it will help make friends and help you network. You will not regret choosing Eastern.”
