Family Support

“I had a lot of support from my family. My dad didn't finish high school until he got his GED later in life, my mom finished high school but did not go to college. My family is very tight knit, we suffered the loss of my mother in 2018, right before high school, so I had to navigate that too. My family helped me, and I helped them, whether going home to get siblings on the bus, or my dad helping me in his own way with the college application process. I was fortunate enough to have some family friends who had been through school too that helped me with the admissions process.”

Andrew MicletteCampus Support

“I am a member of the Tri-Alpha honor society. I worked in admissions, and played on Eastern's Men's Rugby team, and those were both great supports. My coach Ray Aramini helped me beyond words. He was particularly helpful as he put me in contact with whom I needed to talk to. The admissions staff were also a great group to use for help, as they were literally the experts on campus. Coach Ray, and my supervisor Charlotte MacDonald, as well as Ryan and Raena in admissions were a tremendous help. If I had questions about classes, they were helpful, credits, GPA, dean's list, and most importantly urging me to continue my education.”

Career Development

“The internship portion of the business degree is one of the ways Eastern prepares you for goals. I think other things like easily approachable professors, like Dr. Greg Kane, make it a lot easier. I am trying to start my own business and Dr. Kane has been beyond helpful even through graduation.”

Final Thoughts

“The last thing I would like to add is that it's been a privilege to attend Eastern, as a first-generation student particularly I feel like I've seen what missing college can look like, in many forms. My dad has been my biggest support and there is no way that I can thank him enough for the time, effort and commitment he has put into getting me through school, especially after the death of my mom. If I did not have my dad I would not be at Eastern and I am forever grateful for the commitment he has put into my family, and myself.”
