WECS-FM

About WECS-FM

WECS-FM broadcasts from the campus of Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT. The station keeps a tight balance between solid programming and free form radio shows offering the best programming quality for our listeners, and the most freedom and enjoyment for our disc jockeys. While WECS-FM primarily plays new rock and indie music, our DJ-selected formatting encompasses all genres of music. WECS also enlists the services of music directors in the genres of blues, alternative, jazz, folk, world and psychedelia, offering listeners the ability to hear new music in all genres.

With the recent addition of our automated broadcast system, we are able to broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week with jazz and rock filling in the minimal gaps in between scheduled broadcasts. Programming also includes multi-hour feeds twice a day from National Public Radio offering quality news programming. NPR news excerpts played at the top of every hour offer our listeners information that allows them to stay abreast of current events.

WECS also broadcasts 24/7 online, opening our listener base to a worldwide foundation. WECS operates as a community service for our immediate eastern Connecticut community and our newly adopted online community.
