Student Voting FAQs – 2025 Windham Municipal Election

  • Early voting will take place October 20–November 2, 2025 in the Paul E. Johnson Sr. Community Conference Room (lower level, J. Eugene Smith Library).

    Hours: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily | Extended hours Oct 28 & 30 (8 a.m.–8 p.m.).

This site is open to all registered Windham voters, including Eastern students living on or off campus.

  • You may vote in Windham if you:

    • Live in Windham during the semester (on- or off-campus), and
    • Register to vote using your Windham address.

If you live elsewhere and wish to vote in your hometown, request an absentee ballot:

    • Online: Visit voterregistration.ct.gov by Oct 17 (11:59 p.m.).
    • In person: Register at the Windham Registrar of Voters Office, 979 Main Street, by Oct 17 (9 a.m.–8 p.m.).
    • After Oct 17: You can still register on-site at any early-voting location or on Election Day at Windham Town Hall.
  • Bring:

    • Proof of Identity: CT driver’s license or state ID, CT learner’s permit, ECSU student ID, birth certificate, or Social Security card.
    • Proof of Residence:
      • On-campus students: Your housing assignment is verified by Eastern Housing.
      • Off-campus students: If your ID lists your Windham address, that’s sufficient. Otherwise, bring one of the following:
        • Utility bill (dated within 30 days)
        • Lease or rental agreement
        • Library card
        • Pay stub
        • Property tax bill
        • Naturalization papers
        • Recent U.S. passport
  • Most voters simply state their name and address.

However, first-time voters who registered by mail or online may be asked for ID.

It’s best to bring a student ID or driver’s license when you vote.

  • If you’re registered outside Windham, vote by absentee ballot:
