Undergraduate Degree Evaluations

Undergraduate students can review their current Degree Evaluation at anytime. A Degree Evaluation (Degree Works) is a report that shows a student’s progress towards their degree. It shows all degree requirements, indicating which have been met and which still need to be met. This is not an official document, but can assist students and advisors with registration and graduation planning.

Students can access their Degree Evaluation (Degree Works) via eWeb. It is recommended that students use Chrome or Firefox browsers to view their Degree Evaluation.

Degree Evaluation FAQ

  • The Degree Evaluation is an overview of your Degree/Program Requirements. The evaluation includes previous and "In-Progress" Registration (both current term and any following terms that you are currently registered).

It provides information on fulfilled and outstanding requirements that are necessary to complete your Degree, Major, Major Concentration, Minor and Liberal Arts Core Requirements.

  • No. The Degree Evaluation outlines your Degree and Program Requirements, but is constantly changing based on your registration. The transcript is a record of your academic history, but does not consider your degree requirements.

Instructions on obtaining a transcript can be found here.

  • Yes. Click on the 3 dots at the top right of the page. The drop down will have "Class History" where you can view your completed and in-progress courses by term.
  • The courses included on the degree evaluation are based on your Academic Record (Transfer courses, any classes you registered for in the past and are currently registered for) and it is updated automatically when you make any changes to your registration.

If you wish to make changes to anything regarding your Undergraduate Program (Major, Concentration, or Minor), you must go through the appropriate process and obtain appropriate approvals, depending on the change you intend to make.

Graduate students should consult with the Graduate Office.

  • Any course requirements outstanding will be marked as incomplete with a Red Circle.

Any requirements being fulfilled with current registration will be marked with a Blue Half-Circle until the course is graded or otherwise completed.

It is important to note that there are separate and sometimes very specific requirements depending on your Major, Concentration, and any Minors you choose to declare. Each Major, Concentration, and Minor have their own requirements determined by the University Curriculum.

You should discuss any specific scenarios or questions with your Faculty Advisor, the Department Chair, or the Academic Services Center - Advising.

Note: If you have more than one Major/Concentration/Minor declared, if one of them has been completed and the other has not, your overall requirements may show it as being completed. Make sure you look at the second Major/Concentration/Minor for outstanding requirements.

  • All your program requirements are based on the term you were admitted to ECSU, this is what is called your Catalog Term. Catalog Terms are based on the respective course catalog for that academic year and will indicate the curriculum requirements. This is what determines the requirements needed as you move forward to complete your degree.

Since the Curriculum is updated fairly often, requirements may change from one catalog term to the next and the website may not be updated as frequently. The website is updated by a designated party for each department, so how often the website is reviewed and updated can vary greatly.

We recommend using your degree evaluation for the most accurate and up to date requirements for your program. If you have questions regarding your Catalog Term and Requirements, you should reach out to the Department Chair/Coordinator of your Major/Concentration/Minor.

  • Yes. Any course or requirement that is displayed as Blue Text can be clicked on and will display additional information:

    • Clicking on a specific course will show the description, times it is being offered, and current capacity. (If no times are listed, then the course is not currently being offered for the available terms.)
    • Other requirements, such a LAC requirements, may not list specific courses, but will indicate specific attributes. You can click on the Blue Text for these requirements and it will provide a list of all the courses with that attribute and can fulfill that requirement.
  • The "What-If" function allows you to preview any potential changes to your plan of study or registration. With this function you can:

    1. preview changes to your declared Major, Concentration, or Minor.
    2. check the "use current curriculum" box, which will allow you to apply any planned courses and get an idea of how it will fulfill your requirements.
