Course Description

Introduction to Filmmaking

Introduction to Filmmaking is just that, an introduction to making a film.  Students will explore the art and craft of making a short film. Students will learn about professional opportunities in film and entertainment.  Students will learn about the various artistic crafts that work together to create a film.

Open to students entering Grades 10, 11 or 12 this fall.

Meet the Professor

Professor Brian Day Professor Brian Day spent 12 years working in Hollywood on various feature films and TV movies. He has been teaching filmmaking for over 12 years and incorporates a variety of experiential learning practices into his courses. Professor Day has taught at universities in Los Angeles, Georgia, Michigan and Tennessee before coming to Eastern. Professor Day also has made documentary films that have been shown on PBS and distributed around the world. Professor Day earned his M.F.A. in Film from the University of New Orleans.

Camera Recording – more framing rules and shot sizes

Group work on your film projects

Review of filming projects 

Editing of films

Screen completed films
