Film: Eastern Cares

Students help out around Willimantic

Published on October 14, 2025

More than 130 Eastern students dedicated their time, effort, and energy during the annual “Day of Caring” on Oct. 4 in Willimantic. A collaboration between Eastern’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, the initiative deployed volunteers across town to lend a hand at community centers, businesses, and public spaces.

The “Day of Caring” aims to promote unity and support throughout the community through meaningful service.

The CCE brought student volunteers to Abundant Life Community Church, Whitewater Park, the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum, Main Street’s Garden on the Bridge, the garden on High Street, among other sites. Various organizations were represented among the student volunteers, including the men’s baseball and lacrosse teams, and CCE student volunteers.
