The ECSU Foundation hosted its annual golf tournament on June 18 at Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic. Fifty-two golfers participated and the event raised $45,000, increasing the total amount raised over the last 20 years of the tournament to $1.4 million.
This marks the second year the tournament took place at Mohegan Sun Golf Club, after 15 years at Lake of Isles and three years at Wethersfield Country Club. This year’s title sponsor was Windham Pepsi, with Chartwells and Barnes & Noble College serving as lunch sponsors.
The winning foursome was Eastern’s team, led by Scott (’92) and Dianne Smith, with Dianne holding the tournament’s longest drive among women. TRC Environmental Corporation came in second. Kathy Regan-Pyne ’79 won the closest-to-the-pin competition.
“I want to thank this year’s tournament sponsors and players for continuing to support our talented undergraduates at Eastern,” said Philip T. Ellmore, interim vice president for institutional advancement.
Ellmore expressed gratitude for the donations made by organizations and alumni supporting the Foundation: “These gifts are an investment in the people, relationships, and opportunities that make Eastern so special, and for that, we are very grateful.”
The ECSU Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to support students and programs at Eastern Connecticut State University. Established in 1971, the Foundation is directed by a volunteer board of business leaders and University partners with philanthropic interests.
