Eastern requests nominations for spring 2023 excellence awards

Eastern Connecticut State University is requesting nominations for its annual excellence awards. Each year, Eastern presents six excellence awards to employees who made outstanding contributions to the university. Awards are presented in the areas of teaching, creative/scholarly activity and service to the university.

Nominees must have been employed at Eastern for at least three years. They also must receive a nomination form for each category for which they have been nominated, at least two letters of support and a current curriculum vitae. Previous recipients become eligible for re-nomination after five years.

The Excellence in Teaching Award is presented annually to one part-time and one full-time teaching faculty member at Eastern. Nominees are judged on knowledge of subject matter, effective use of appropriate teaching techniques, effectiveness of ingraining in students a love of lifelong learning, effectiveness in contributing to students' intellectual growth, contributions to curricular development and innovations in pedagogy.

The Excellence in Creative/Scholarly Activity Award is presented to one full-time faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in their field through activities such as publication, presentation at professional conferences, production/performance of artistic works and/or research.

The Excellence in Service to the University Award is presented to three full-time employees. One award is presented to a full-time teaching faculty member. One is presented to a full-time unclassified employee, which can include management confidential and State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) employees, coaches, librarians and counselors.

The third Excellence in Service to the University Award is presented to a full-time classified employee in one of the following unions: maintenance, clerical, protective services, engineer and scientific, administrative and residual.
