Eastern students and families gathered for a day of festivities on April 23 for the first Family Day since fall 2019. Sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and the Student Government Association (SGA), families spent the day on campus enjoying a variety of activities and competing against other families for prizes.

“This was our first in-person Family Day since the pandemic began and it was a huge success," said Casey Kensey, director of new student and family programs. "There was an overwhelming response to this event, and we saw our highest number of registrants in years. Everyone was very appreciative for the opportunity to spend time on campus with their students and enjoyed the nice weather, live music and activities planned for the day. We look forward to bringing back this event in the fall.”

Starting at 11 a.m., families played outdoor games and participated in a scavenger hunt across campus. Several student clubs also performed outdoors, including Eastern’s Cheer Team, Dance Team and LatinX Sensation.

This year the Office of Student Activities introduced a new component to Family Day, “The Family Faceoff,” in which families competed against one another in “minute to win it” challenges. Victorious families earned points that went toward prizes.

In the afternoon, following a spring-themed lunch catered by Chartwells, families explored Eastern’s campus and watched a star show at the Wickware Planetarium, visited the Unity Wing and more.
