Eastern Honors Faculty Scholarship and Creativity

President Elsa Núñez honors faculty .

“I am just proud to know that I played a role in hiring such a distinguished group of scholars who are changing the lives of students by preparing them for the new workplace,” said Carmen Cid, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. “When they get into the workplace, they will recognize they would not be where they are, were it not for you. The students will not forget you.”

Elizabeth Scott, interim dean of the School of Education and Professional Studies and Graduate Division, agreed: “I am thrilled to see all of the wonderful work being produced by faculty in the School of Education and Professional Studies.”

Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs William Salka said in the face of today’s challenges, “the one thing Eastern can do is to celebrate the exceptional research of our faculty. I know you spend lots of time with students, preparing them for the future, but today, we celebrate impressive scholarship, something of which we need to do more, as this is crucial to the liberal arts education we offer. Today creates a real sense of pride.”

Salka expressed his gratitude to Art Gallery Director Yulia Tikhonova for providing the venue; Amanda Irwin for logistics and the beautiful slideshow that highlighted each honoree; student social media specialist Sharon Lopez Rivera, who served as editor of the academic listings in the program brochure; and Travis Houldcroft in Media Services.
