Nineteen talented student vocalists from Eastern Connecticut State University’s Music Program were selected to perform in the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Feb. 25. The epic three-hour concert immersed performers and audience members of the sold-out show into the world of Westeros.
The vocalists were led by composer Ramin Djawadi, best known for his score for the famous HBO television series. Performers in the choir and orchestra brought audience members on a journey from King’s Landing to Winterfell through Djawadi’s groundbreaking score. The best compositions from Game of Thrones were brought to life with footage from famous scenes and innovative effects, capturing the grand scale of a renowned series that has been hailed as one of the best television programs of all time.
“Our reputation has opened doors for us to work with internationally known artists because they know they will be met with professionalism and excellence,” said Eastern Music Professor and Director of Vocal Studies David Belles. “I am so proud of all the students who performed and the incredible amount of work that went into this experience.”
“It was truly an honor and a privilege to work with and be conducted by Ramin Djawadi,” said music major Hannah Bythrow, one of the performers in the concert’s choir. “The only word that can truly describe this experience is ‘immersive.’ Being able to even be one piece in this huge puzzle was inspiring and amazing.”
