A Year of Praise: 2015-16 Honors and Accolades

Eastern was the recipient of numerous awards and accolades in the 2015-16 academic year, including being recognized as one of the region’s best schools and top workplaces.

FOR STUDENTS

U.S. News and World Report: Eastern was ranked the 27th best public university in the North by U.S. News and World Report in its 2016 edition of “Best Colleges.” The region contains numerous colleges and universities in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

Princeton Review: The Princeton Review named Eastern one of the “Best Colleges in the Northeast” in its 2016 edition of “Best Colleges: Region By Region.” In the 11-state region, 225 colleges were recognized.

Colleges of Distinction: “Colleges of Distinction” recognized Eastern in the 2015-16 academic year (as well as in 2016-17) for its emphasis on teaching undergraduates, innovative learning experiences, enriching campus and reputation from graduate schools/employers. Colleges of Distinction recognizes the best institutions nationwide for students to “learn, grow and succeed.” 

Hidden Gem: College Raptor, an online college planning tool, named Eastern the best “hidden gem” institution in Connecticut in May 2016. The Hidden Gem program highlights colleges and universities around the country that may be overlooked by students weighing their college options.

Great Colleges to Work For: Eastern is one of the nation’s “Great Colleges to Work For,” according to the Chronicle of Higher Education’s 2015 survey (as well as 2016). Of the 281 institutions recognized, Eastern was one of only 42 schools that was named to the program’s “Honor Roll,” and the only public four-year institution in New England. 

Top Workplaces in Connecticut: For the fourth time in the past five years, the Hartford Courant/FOX CT has named Eastern one of the top workplaces in Connecticut. In the 2015 Top Workplaces survey, Eastern was ranked number seven in the category for “large” organizations. Goodwin College was the only other educational institution to be named, placing eighth in the mid-sized category.
